Types of Editing
Proofread:
A proofreader provides a final check for grammar, spelling errors, punctuation errors, typos, etc. Final stage before book goes to print.
Line Editor:
A Line Editor helps to develop sentence flow, any plot holes, among other things. Its the final defense to ensure that your work is the best it can be. They check for grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency, and word usage.
Developmental Editor:
This edit is very extensive. The editor heavy edits for structure, style, and copy editing. It focuses on flow of content sentence, to paragraph, to chapters. This type of edit will
make sure everything ties together and makes sense, ensures your plot moves the story, and all information is accurate.
Copy Editor:
This is the most common edit. Checks for grammar, spelling, and mechanics of style.
Also, will look at formats, and getting everything in order.
